MAKING ICDS A SUCCESSImproving children's health & nutrition
The success of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme largely depends upon the effectiveness of frontline workers in improving service delivery, providing quality services and care.
The effectiveness of frontline workers in empowering community for improved child care practices through counseling, home visits as well as effective inter-sectorial service delivery is crucial for a healthy community.
The AWTC trains grassroots workers specially to reach out to women, adolescent girls and children in rural areas, to educate them on matters of basic health and hygiene, nutrition, pre-natal and post-natal maternal and childcare and child rearing.
Anganwadi workers develop the capacity of mothers through appropriate community based practices for proper child care in their health and nutrition aspects. Training is being imparted to the Worker for Basic course and Refresher course.
Since 2009, MSSVP has trained several Anganwadi workers from Surguja, Balrampur, Surajpur, Koira, Raigarh and Jashpur Districts.
